Boutique pottery taster classes in Geelong – where we’re different to the rest.

You will sincerely enjoy and get a taste for our fun pottery classes in an authentic studio environment.

We step up the pace and set you up on the wheel for some throwing and occasionally mix it up at the handbuilding table to experience a different form of tactility.

You’ll be guided with a couple of forms on the wheel to return to later, including learning how to attach a handle to your breakfast cup.

– a quality experience is guaranteed

– all of our 2 hour Taster classes are intense, cosy and sooo much fun…

Firing and glazing of 2  finished pieces is included in your ticket.

From Private sessions for 2  – to larger corporate events, family, friends  and group celebrations.

You can also build your own group to sit at the table for a 2 hour hands on session - hand building with clay.

You'll also see fire and smoke with our Sunday Raku sessions -  throughout the year and we're also colouring things up with weekend glaze making workshops.

CLASS FORMAT - 2 HOURS STUDIO TIME

  • Beginning with a quick tour of the 'wheel house'.  We'll provide you with a walk through into our working kiln room and an understanding of the ceramic process.
  • Next it'll be aprons on ( dont forget yours - you'll get clay messy and spoil your clothes for sure ) and all hands on clay.     A quick lesson on wedging the clay - the hows and whys of your clay preparation
  • The fun begins - with cool, damp clay - centre, pull and throw - yep - its a workout - but we'll give you a helping hand.  Or if we're Hand building today it'll be something along the lines of pinch, coil, slab and roll.
  • 2 hours and voila!!...you'll have a few presentable pieces -   If you choose to keep your work, we can glaze and fire your work ready for collection in roughly 2-4 weeks ( additional fee applies).

WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR POTTERY CLASS

StudioMade supplies everything  including pottery tools and equipment...you guessed it there'll be wet clay - we ask that you bring your own lengthy apron or a towel to drape over your lap - and trimmed nails, and short sleeves work best on the wheel.  Closed in shoes are a requirement.   Please ensure you read our cancellation policy / terms and conditions prior to moving through checkout.
